The patented invention facilitates secure playback of any kind of digital media. It encourages Superdistribution by virtually guaranteeing that media will play, no matter what kind of device it is authorized to and whether it is delivered via search engine marketing, advertising on websites, social network, peer-to-peer, emails and instant messages.
Tucson, Arizona (August, 2007) – DigitalContainers Inc. (DCI) announced today it has been granted a patent on its Secure Media Player technologies. This is an invention that makes the playing of audio and video files more secure and reliable than the current technologies. The technology is covered by a recently granted patent from the US Patent Office called, “Secure Streaming Container”, U.S. Patent No. 7,251,832. When taken in conjunction with the company's previously awarded patents, "Regulating Access to Digital Content," US Patent No. 6,389,541, "Tracking Electronic Content," US Patent No. 6,751,670, and “Delivering Electronic Content”, US Patent No. 7,127,515 they provide architecture for a Superdistribution system that delivers, protects, tracks, authorizes and monetizes any type of digital goods across the entire spectrum of broadband networks. According to Barry Phillips, VP of Intellectual Property at DigitalContainers, "We're very excited about this new Secure Media Player technology as it gives DigitalContainers powerful new functionality and strong intellectual property protection for our Superdistribution ecommerce and rights management systems (SuperCommerce). It complements our other technology and patents by serving as the way to make sure that media will always playback, no matter what device it lands on and do it in a very secure manner. As proof of the potential power of Superdistribution, a recent nationwide survey found almost 90% of adult Internet users share content with others via e-mail according to Sharpe Partners. Three out of five respondents said they shared content at least once a week, 25% do so more frequently. SuperCommerce supports this powerful distribution trend by allowing digital information to be freely distributed over the Internet (via email, instant messaging, search engines, P2P networks or social networks) while simultaneously protecting the information, tracking the usage, and collecting payment when appropriate.

| "Digital Container's ‘SuperCommerce’ solutions are critical to the success of the emerging P2P distribution channel," said Marty Lafferty, CEO of the Distributed Computing Industry Association (www.DCIA.info). "The optimal way to efficiently reach a global market is through superdistribution, which requires one user passing along media efficiently and securely to the next. DCI’s ‘SuperCommerce’ system facilitates superdistribution, making P2P a viable commercial technology." Lafferty added, "By serving a large and global market through de-centralized file-sharing distribution, industries like ours, which distribute media over the Internet and via P2P, can realize significant cost advantages compared to old methods of centralized distribution that require greater initial and ongoing investments and are typically unfair to media creators." | |||||||||||||||||||||
